Economic Stimulus

Ever since the 2008 economic stimulus plan was announced, I've been thinking off and on about it. So the economy is slowing down (well.. have been since about 2001/2002 and never recovered), and the government feels like they need to do something about it. Which makes sense, considering they are there to do something. From most economic classes that I remember taking, there is the idea that the economy can be stimulated by spending. But the methodology for said stimulus is carried out by the government. They go on a spending spree, and drop enough money into the economy to provide the needed stimulus. In the 2008 plan, there is something completely self-contradictory going on. Instead of the government trying to desperately hold on to every red cent, they are giving it back to tax payers by the billions (well.. more like by the hundreds to individuals). And that too from a Republican president. And this is the same guy who gave back money from the budget surplus. It's just an amazing concept for me. Do any other governments around the world do the same? Can any of my international readers attest to getting money back for free, to do whatever they wanted with it?

Speaking of the stimulus, I would like mine now, please. Having a social security number ending in 92 puts me in the very last batch of people slated for the package. The IRS website promises it by next week...

Less than a week left to go for our vacation. The next post will either be from Grand Cayman, or after our return. Tish has been busy gathering things for the trip, and we're mostly all organized. I needed some new swimming trunks, and Tish picked up a nice pair from Hollister. We're going there with not a lot of planned things to do. I think the idea is to get there, and then decide what we want to do on any given day. One thing that Tish's dad, Dave wants to do is go deep-sea fishing. Tish is pretty excited about doing that too. I'm not so sure. The concept of bobbing around in the middle of the ocean doesn't sound too appealing. But I may decide to go - gotta try things at least once, right?

Pick me! Pick me! I'm on sale!

You sure we can get away with it...?

Food..? what food..? I'm still hungry.

Here it is.. Priya's bedding!

Nice day for a stroll... Now push me.

Kite flying with grandpa and grandma

I can't see it...

Hmmm.. I wonder if that plan to take over the world will work...

Uh oh... I think they know...
